Sweet...I mean, Ill take a closet or something. I'm neat and shower regularly, you'll hardly know I'm there. Although, people have described me as a "lurker," but I don't really know what that means.

My friend filled his house with stolen coin rides from outside a Wal-Mart, plus two soda machines...his roommates werent too happy.

I only have one brother.

(Apr 10 07, 07:12)1. manage bills: don't have much experience (I don't have any bills to pay except school stuff).
2. cook: I'm decent enough.
3. clean: we all have chores, so got that covered too.
4. wake up on time: yup
5. find my own way home: yup
6. dividing salary: yup
So now I just have to learn how to do billy stuff. Shouldn't be too difficult.

It never fails...I always get the "creepy." Ha ha ha...

- Suitable course
(How important was the course itself - was a fine course detail important?)
4- Facilities
(How important were the facilities of the college?)
3- Tutors
(How important was the quality of the tutors in your choice?)
1- Location
(How important was the place / life you were moving?)
3- Reputation
(How important was the college reputation? Past work?)
4- Friends
(How important was your friends decision in your choice?)
0the advice i can give is that ALWAYS keep on to of your schedule, class schedule and your entire school schedule. its very easy to miss a class or two and then basically have to go to school a year longer. its happening to me right now.
- Jaline0
alk, it depends on the course.
Since I'm in a lot of English courses, I just miss classes all the time since the professor only reiterates interpretations of the novel or literature.
Hands-on stuff is very different, of course.

I think tutors are so important..
Baskerville should attest to this.. having gone to CSM
CSM -
Phil Baines,LCC -
Teal Triggs, Hamish Muirthese guys have huge reps in their field, so being taugt by them would probably be invaluable
on the other hand a while ago ithe course in Portsmouth used to be taught by some of the guys from GraphicThoughtFacility. You should deffo check out whos gonna be teaching you before you apply. - 'u dont want it to be a case of the blind leading the blind'(?)
- oldelpaso0
actually Dom, i got one u havent listed but its mainly a little whim of mine..
when i applied to the college and then the uni, I always checked their prospectus, website, and grad show literature..
If a college that claims to teach GD and doesnt do a gd job on their promo stuff... its a blatent no-no.
'put-your-money-where-your-mouth... type of thing

Hello again. Thanks for all the great responses. It's really helpful.
The reason for my questions is to see how much the place you move to influences the decision of where to study.
I wonder - outside of the school's reputation and facilities - would location be next important factor? If so why / why not?
Thanx
- oldelpaso0
I dont thinkIts tough cause sometimes location&reputation are interlinked (ie London+NY schools) just because of the appeal of the city.
I dont think it -should- influence the choice (ie if Sagmeister, Glaser, Spiekermann, Carson, Vignelli etc all taugh in a school in Bulgaria - i'd be on the first plane there)
but ultimately it does - because some people arent city ppl, others love the vibe of a certain city as opposed to another. + its always nice to be surrounded by like minded individuals
location doesnt really affect the decision as much as it affects the work you produce when ur there.

Oh, didn't realize it was you, Dom. Hey! Your username gives you away though, hehe.
As for the location, I think it's fairly important. The other uni here is has narrow roads, older buildings and is in the heart of downtown. The uni I chose is near downtown, but has a lot more space and greenery. And has been receiving lots of funding lately.
Location also has to do with restaurants, entertainment, proximity to services & family & friends, etc, etc, especially if your university doesn't have all the services you require.
For example, having a uni downtown would be more beneficial for obvious reasons - easier transportation, more places to eat, etc, but is also quite crowded.

(Apr 10 07, 08:24)oh, what i tried to say was like i ended up missing a course that i needed for later because i wasn't on top of my schedule, and i had to wait a year to take it so that i can take the other course to advance. they only offered it once a term (only spring, so I had to wait until the next spring term).
skipping a class does depends on the class itself :)
- Jaline0
okay, haha, that makes so much more sense.
I think I have to take a second-year course next year (I'll be in 4th) because I slacked off in first year.
- alkanenine0
location of the school and surrounding area i think is important but it can depend on the person. I transfered (money situation) from Philadelphia, a pretty busy city with lots of stuff to do, to middle of suburbia with nothing to do. I personally feel that I have way less motivation to do work around here since its not as inspiring. But I think it depends on the person.

(Apr 10 07, 10:14)i'm going to be taking 2 summer classes and another year of school, this will be my 5th, to be able to graduate. with so much schooling i could be getting a masters. :/
- Jaline0
yeah, I suppose you could be.
I may do a Masters, depending on my marks next year. I was going to take a summer course but it's not offered until the regular school year. I'm actually happy on the inside, because going to school while working full-time over the summer completely sucks.
