Duotone Q

I am working on a 2 colour job, images are EPS duotones.

One image is a close cropped image, with a transparent background. Except EPS does not support transparency.

Luckily, the clipped out image is going on a solid background, so my idea was to fill the background the same PMS swatch. Unfortunately when I fill the background, the dutotone adds some of the other colour into the mix.

How can I make sure the background is a solid 100% PMS Black. I can tweak and adjust the curves all I want but Its hard to tell when I am exact.

    Any ideas?

i'm having trouble following the brief, but are you sure you want a duotone?

"Unfortunately when I fill the background, the dutotone adds some of the other colour into the mix."

a duotone is a mix of 2 PMS colors (typically black + ?) to achieve an tonal range better than just greyscale.

    maybe you want spot overprints?
