indesign cs2 crashes or gives warning "not enough memory" when saving a ps file (50 pages, about 50 eps files linked) on macbook pro with 2Gb memory. same file does not crash on a older G5 with 1 Gb of memory. is there some easy solution? do i have to save all those eps's to jpg's?? :(
help

IT's a pain but create .ps files in batchs (the first 10 pages, etc) then combine them all in Acrobat.

if it doesnt clash in G5 than it is most likely a intel issue
- mayo0
eh, I mean Distill first, then combine.

yeh, tried printing the ps file 5 pages at the time, didn't work out, only 1 page at the time is working

intel issues is my guess

3 guys just got new Mac Pros with 30" screens today, but they have so much trouble with CS2 they all regret switching..

I had this problem with the first file I opened in CS2 on my Mac Pro, you need to batch save the images as anything but pShop eps, then relink them. This shouldn't take too long mate. Then use the money for the job to buy CS3, otherwise there really was no point in buying the Pro

:D, have to start saving money...
eps files are saved from illy, maybe pdf's are better choice then? or jpeg's to be really sure...

2GB ram is not very much either in this case. Especially when you are not running in native mode due to the Intel chip.
Time to get your CS3 upgrade... and a couple more gigs of ram.

just save as ai native then. 2GB should be ok really, a lot of people reckon anything more than 4GB is plain greedy. If I could only afford one I would most definitely get CS3 (the photoshop beta runs sweeet, really substantial version)

No, when I say 'native' I mean the code that is running. If you have an Intel system, the CS2 code is running in emulation (called Rosetta) to make it think it running on the old PowerPC chips. Reduces performance and efficiency. CS3 is coded for the new INtel Mac platforms, which will remove that issue.
