is it a bit abrupt to go straight into work?
do i need to care that it's so image heavy?
are the project discriptions useful, too simplistic or too technical?

Nice work Kim.
Don't really like the shiney bit on the top red bar. A flat colour would look better. The sideways work menu might annoy some people. And the contact section seems very empty, I would just add it in with the about information.
Never read project descriptions, I just look at the pictures, so can't help you there.

love the logotype...
agree with skt, the verticle nav is hurting my neck other than that...
nice job. the work speaks for itself and the images work well.

I think it's fine to go straight into the work section. Just look at all the one-pagers out there.
As to the site I am not digging that much the colours. The black on the sides, the white bg, the red top bar...they are a bit boring, and do kinda make wanna leave the site thinking the rest of the site might be boring too.
Lastly, you forgot to set the border to 0 in the contact page to the shine.jpg image. I'm getting a ugly gray border around it.
- vespa0
ooh yea good idea skt i'll put the contact on about.
do people really read the names of the projects in the nav or just click on the next one? am i going to go to usability hell for having vertical text? i like the shape they make. (tremble before my incredible dezine justification skills)
- Rand0
I've always liked vertical type justified left like that. I typeset Ursula Ruckers entire Supa Sista 30 page lyrics book that way

i liked your post arseni, it felt like going on a little adventure!
i guess i shouldn't force people to be adventurous. or SHOULD i? it's not like i'm asking them to get in a burning plane with me.
- skt0
thats how it all starts though.
- vespa0
haha
- Rand0
go for it
- Jaline0
I agree with skt (yes, the world IS coming to an end).
v5 is right about the image being squished at the bottom of the "about" page.
About the vertical text:
I guess your justification about it being "adventurous" is okay, but maybe there should be more reason for it? Or maybe not. I like it, but that's because I didn't read every project right away. I suspect some people will read each project before clicking, but I'm not sure what the statistics are regarding that issue. You can go for it, but maybe try to come up with other ideas of how to navigate your portfolio. Maybe a tasteful drop-down menu?

permission from Dr Rand! yesss
well spotted version5, cheers!
- Jaline0
Also, there's nothing wrong with going straight into your work. It's more....to-the-point.
- Rand0
on the other hand, I have a history of highly irritating websites
- Jaline0
Some other things...
- maybe drop the gradient and see how it looks.
- have you tried making the background all black? instead of having a white bg and a black bg inside of that, I mean. Or you could try making the black bg thinner.
- you could add some more space at the bottom, right after the explanation-of-the-portfolio-pie... text.
- Jaline0
Another thing...
I think you overlapped the navigation mapping / links, since the "contact" link seems to be large. What I mean is, you can access the contact page by clicking on the red area beside it (all the way to where the red bg ends and the black one starts).
It may be better to have just the text "contact" clickable instead of the whole red area.
- Jaline0
I forgot to mention that you did a good job.
:P
