I must admit for a long time I thought it was a no contest and that Pele was the best but the more I see of Maradonna in his prime, the more I want to change my mind.
I think Zidane could run them both close as well. The man was sheer class and retired a hero for nutting that racist twat in the world cup finals.
- Oh please... Zidane?
A good player for sure but overrated IMHO. maradona is from another planet.ItalianStallion

All time top team,
Banks
Beckenbauer
Hansen
Maldini
Cafu
Zidane
Cruyff
Dalgleish
Maradonna
Pele
KlinsmannStill reckon (as much as I hate to admit it) that bekenbaur has to be the most successful player, maybe the best.
But imagine what Dagleish and Hansen would of done if they'd of been english. We would of won the 82 world cup for sure. Between them they won 3 european cups in a row.
I reckon maradonna's better than pele. He dragged an average argentinan side to 2 finals in a row, winning one, and won the italian league on his own with Napoli

and
4) Maradona’s Eyes Are Popping OutMaradona’s participation at USA ’94 had seemed very doubtful after a difficult couple of overweight years at Sevilla and Newell’s Old Boys. However, he somehow managed to whip himself into some kind of shape to make the finals. Moreover, Dieguito scored a brilliant goal in the opening 4-0 thrashing of Greece.
His celebration after this top-corner curler, though, will go down as one of the most infamous in history as Maradona charged to the pitch-side camera screaming, shouting and with his pupils more dilated than the bath-needing junkie who used to go out with Kate Moss.

Would be nice if people could show some respect for this guy.
He group up in a fucking shanty town and didn't even go to school. He later had to cope with fame and a terrible drug addiction.
It's almost the same way people use to treat Michael Jackson. Instead of highlighting the good, they love to pick up on all the bad sides.
He gave us something truly amazing. He is gifted and gave a lot of people something very positive when he was in good shape.

Amazing player! Bad coach.
I really don't care about the drugs and all the other stuff. There's only 2 players I can think of that were just so fucking good there was no stopping them... Pele and Maradona and they both have the highlights to prove it. Unstoppable.

Also gotta mention Hugo Sanchez, not at those guys level but pretty close.
