Which button command is better to use for clicktags? on (press) or on (release)? I was told one of them works better with pop up blockers.

it's morning.
the west coast of the US isn't at work yet.
you waited 7 minutes for the first answer.
you waited another 7 before posting a 2nd bump.
have patience my dear friend. patience.btw, onPress and onRelease use the same function, just the calling of that function is delayed in onRelease.

onRelease, just because. makes fuck all difference.
The choice of ClickTAG should be determined by whoever is processing it.

According to the specs, if my clicktag action is in a movieclip, I have to use _root.clickTag. What's up with that?

onRelease since on press has some issues on some ms service packs due to security reasons. I remember a project a few years ago when service pck two came out and we had to go through a slew of banners and change them from on press to on release. Probably all ok by now but to be safe do onRelease.

(Mar 29 07, 06:35)because the clickTag variable is passed into the root of your swf, hence you're referencing a variable on the root of your swf. if your onRelease was nested 8 clips in, you'd either reference it as _root or _parent._parent.etc...
