Make sure you’re going to use it, I bought one a few years ago and swear I’ve barely touched it.

Just got one.
Messenger messages hand written are far better than typed.
Nice.

If you can spare the cash, I'd say go for it. I bought one a few years back and haven't used it nearly as much as I would've liked - but I do appreciate having it around.
I only really use it in photoshop, and then only for touch ups or sweeping motions that are tricky (inaccurate) with a mouse.
It's good for doodling around and faffing too and is also surprisingly good for some games - strategy type things etc.
Have a search for 'Wacom' on the PVN, as there's a fairly topic about sizes etc.

I got one at work last September, and haven't used a mouse for anything since. Once you get used to it, it's much nicer- quieter, easier to use most graphics programs, and generally faster than a mouse.
I use the Intuos 6x8.

Yes, get one. At first I got the budget one. Then I got a big one later. I use one for everything on the computer. I used to get cramps in my wrist using a mouse til I taught myself to use a tablet for every task. It would get so bad that my wrist would lock up sometimes.
Buying a wacom is the best move I made computer wise.

Just be careful about moving files for the first month to avoid mistakes though.
