what a nice position to be in!
honestly - just sk yourself which job you are going to get more from career-wise. where will you grow and learn the most?
forget money, forget the people you will be working with...be selfish and think only about yourself, your skillset, and where you will be able to do the best work!

if you know these other folks, take the other joab, then you'll know more folks, and knowing more folks is always a bonus my son.
good luck to you, squire, whatever you decide

take the road less travelled.

tough call mate, if you still have the enthusiasm and can get by with the lower wage, take the one that will bring you more pleasure... don't take a job for the money until you need to and have lost all faith in graphic design... we can talk about this on the 16th, or at least I will, the decision to listen or participate, is yours...

SO what about that pint soda?
I think a fourth might solve it.

the thing is I generally always go for the safe option (more money) rather than the creative option.
now that isn't the case, both creative, both fairly safe in terms of long term and both going to be challenging.
Difference is one side I know the people and the other I don't. Both will be good... Oh I don't know.
And a three pint lunch hasn't helped either!

go for the challenge. learn more and make yourself even more marketable!

I always end up going for less money
not on purpose, though

cheers for the advice people. It's not often I find myself in this sort of situation. The one thing that is pulling me is the challenge of moving into a new field with new people new environment and going for the job I got off my own back, not through a favour or knowing the people there. I'm feeling that I could really do with that sort of challenge right now. But saying that what Concrete and BottleRocket have said is a different angle. If I go with that I go with option 2...

yup, 16th is all go. see you then and have a brilliant time schmoozing the belgian booze!
hm... it does sound like option one would be a big opportunity and if it falls through, you've always got option two...
not that it'll fall through!
but i think you've answered your own question there. ;)
now, soda, tell me what i want to be when i grow up...

I would pick the ones you know you can work well with.
Wages are just digits in the bank account after a while..assuming you've got no moeny worries and both roles are paying the same.
It s what happens at work and what happens outside of work that matters. Are the people better to work with in one role than the other? And will you have a better life outside of work in one role than in the other?
And the kicker for me is which one is the shorter commute and in a decent area.

Nice position to be soda, but a tricky decision none the less.
I'd choose whichever studio gave me the most interesting work and stimulating environment. Money isn't the be all and end all.
Good luck

what's going on in wapping?
I'm in belgium tomorrow unfortunately... are we all still on for the 16th?
- soda0
Thought that maybe I could go for the first option as I know the other agency pretty well and the opportunity will come up again. Both jobs would set me up pretty well for the future, I guess it does just come down to what I want to do more?
Para, tell me what I want..?
- paraselene0
speaking of which, moth, you've been ignoring my emails about wapping tomorrow night....
drag soda along.
;)

Both growth markets I guess.
I'd say that the latter gives you more options in the long run. Mobile interfaces is pretty niche.Come and discuss it over a pint!
- paraselene0
ooft! that is a tough one, soda. i suppose my instinct would be to go with the mom and pop, but i guess it depends on whether you feel like you need the money right now.

So I have committed to taking on a new job. Seems really exciting, great place, good money, big clients and moving into mobile content design so will be challenging Plus it'll open up more doors in that industry as I am moving into a new field.
First 3 months are freelance leading onto perm if it works out for both parties.
But I have been offered an extended freelance contract at one of the best little agencies in London. I know the owners and they like me, want me in there and basically have said once I am in there will be loads of work because they don't have anyone with the skill set I have. The job described to me sounded like my ideal role, in the ideal place.
It's a nice position to be in, especially as the last few years have been pretty shite work wise.
What would you pick? One direction gives me a bit more cash, a fulltime gig after 3 months and takes me into working on mobile interfaces and content. The other takes me further into digital, more broadcast, more animation and more flash...I guess I can't really lose but just not used to having options!
