I'm interested to hear what people's thoughts are on the best companies/places to work at. (It can be anywhere in the world)
And by best, I'm referring to not only the quality of work, but also the quality of company culture and compensation. A place that's truly a joy to work at.

did an internship at 'Tak!' which was pretty sweet. (the only downside was that i was way too far from the sea) but the work/people/vibe was spot on
all of the london placements i went on sucked ass.. so... from MY point of view.. anywhere but london!

Tak! is cool...I've talked to the creator a few times. Or at least the creator of Sticker Nation. His name escapes me.

Dom Murphy?

yeah! I bought some pins from http://www.pinpops.com a few months back and he thought he recognized my name (from when I talked to him about Sticker Nation years back) and sent me an email, heh.

lol sounds like it :) but thats what i meant by the vibe.. everyone was really down to earth and involved and take the time to these things - which means they actually enjoy what they are doing
the studios in london .. were so pretentious, arrogant, and impersonal... im kinda hoping i dont spend the rest of my life in a studio like that resenting graphic design

anywhere with videogames or a pool table - although too much game time might make you soft or show that a company is sinking work wise // I think its about having relaxed but organized and easy going management and a good, varied list of clients.

For myself. Working on big accounts with an agency isn't anywhere near as satisfying or as interesting (in the long term) as solving* problems for smaller companies or myself.

i watched a special once that stated google was one of the best places to work at. maybe not tied directly with design, but the feature looked like fun

it looks pretty mad inside the google building

I work in Sweden for www.frost.se and it's a nice working atmosphere, fun place to be etc etc and the street-bound fanny is quite astonishing.

hey oldelpaso, I like your site, some nice work. I was lookng as the poster you did for Waxed. How did you make that, was it using Scriptographer or something like that. I'd love to know.

Concrete in Toronto was good and bad, Dietwee in Holland was good and bad, everywhere is good and bad... Ideally if you're in studio you want like-minded people around you and that will make things better even if the work isn't always great, let's face it, it's never as grand as studio's make it seem on their sites...
in general though Holland is much more relaxed, not too many people work crazy North American or UK hours...

I came to like Irish approach to work.. usually relaxed.

Out of the many studio's I've met with over the years, BB Saunders seemed to be the most interesting given the small team, client base and Warren seems like a great CD...
