I've recently had some stationery for a client die cut. I'm not happy with the results and I don't think the cut is too intricate for a die cutting tool. Has anyone experienced this and how much more is laser cutting?

What is the problem witth the result. Is it the cut itself or the colour?
Laser cutting is V.pricey. Not worth it for Business cards.

It's just not as square or geometric as the artwork I sent them.

the printer may have just done a shit job on it. I imagine you saw samples of their work beforehand and also spoke with a rep about the prospect of your cutting specifications?
If they didnt meet your expectation, take it up with them.
Just to understand, what was getting cut exactly?

well, plenty big enough to cut. but I imagine that the printer would have warned that with the thickness of the paper (I gather a standard text weight for a letterhead) that the cut might pull a bit given the shape.
