pc: brand / size / weight / processor.. best bang for the buck? considering Dell, but they are so thick and bulky (xps)
mac: considering a 17", but why do they get so damn hot? makes me want to keep with the PC
thoughts?

I do like my dell but yes it is bulky, has been v reliable tho and even survived half a bottle of beer on/in it...

if you're looking for a desktop replacement, then buy 17". If its purpose is to be really transportablr, buy a 15".

i really like my asus w2v... 17 and light as can be...
the new carbon fiber dual core is really sweet..
the bios is fussy though, and support from asus is sketchy.... i think i will buy another this summer if nothing better comes along
hope this helps.

If bulky is your worry I would agree about not getting a 17inch. I always have a 19inch plugged into mine as a second monitor which I do all my work on. The 15.6 monitor is more than enough to have my email and desktop open at all times (and to house my palettes when working in photoshop, flash actions panel, etc.

Ps. Been happy with my Dell laptop, probably get another one next. Toshiba would be my next bet but will wait 6 months to see reviews on which is best with Vista. I would wait 6 months before you buy, prices of Vista friendly laptops will no doubt drop.

My Toshiba Satellite is great.
Widescreen + slick look + great specs for the price.

Toshibas are crap. Had one that never worked in the 2 years I had it. Ended filing complaints with the BBB.
Right now I have a 15" macbook pro and let me tell you that it is an orgasmic experience using this computer... It is so awesome that....oh yes, yes yes..................almost there.........yes..... ......
*grabs a smoke
get a mac book pro dude

Vector, I heard the same thing, but I made the right decision. I figured that more people liked it than said they had problems with it, which is similar to the opinions you'd get for many other brands.
In the future I may get a Mac, but it depends on if I continue with design and everything professionally. Otherwise I'm really happy with Toshiba and the like.

I recently bought a sony vaio. Very happy with it. Nice design, prices arn't too bad, but a little bit higher than some other pcs.

ya, the Sony's are really nice. I customized one online and maxed out the specs and it came out to $3300 little spendy

I recommend the Sony AR, the only really pricey one comes with a blu-ray burner.
