Whilst we're on the subject of swatches - how can one perform a transform on a swatch, rather than the object?
eg. say I wanted to rotate the stripes, but not the containing square?
Someone here mentioned you could do it with the '~' key, but I'll be damned if I can get it to work (on a UK-layout PC keyboard).
thanks

ie. not expanding and then transforming - merely, modifying the swatch as-is, within the object.

object > transform > rotate
then in the options: tick the 'object' off and make sure 'pattern' is on. This will rotate the pattern and not the object.. also work with scale btw.or that not what you wanted to know?

Ah, shit! So it is, right there in front of me - thank you very much, neverblink!
Now, for bonus points - what's a shortcut key to that?
- Nairn0
"Transform pattern without transforming object ~(tilde)-drag" From: http://nobledesktop.com/shortcut…
BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK?!
:(
- neverblink0
no, it seems you're only able to 'move' the pattern not rotate or scale it..
- neverblink0
got it.. just use the 'rotate' and 'scale' tools.. when pressing down the tilde you will only change the pattern.. (another nice feature: try pressing the tilde when creating a star and wiggle your mouse a bit ;) )

?!&*(^%*&^%
My fucking ~ key and ¬ keys are the opposite way around.
fnnnnfn^(&*(^
*slowly counts to 10
I owe you one, neverblink 8)
