using CS3 beta
if i have a layer named "Layer 1" and i duplicate the layer, the new layer is named "Layer 1 copy." each time i duplicate that layer it tacks on copy 1, copy 2, etc. on the end
not a big deal when doing one layer at a time, but often i duplicate layer sets and then everything gets that stupid "...copy" tacked on the end. i know it's a copy, i just fucking duplicated it myself. the larger the layer set the more annoying it is.
is this a preference i can turn off somehow?
thanks

if you right click and choose duplicate, it gives you the option to name it whatever you want.

if i duplicate a layer folder that has nested layers/folders, everything inside still gets the "copy" added to the end of it though.
that only changes the name of the root folder itself :\

I feel your pain.
Adobe is usually very slow to respond to the freaky neat-nic designers like us.
(How many versions until we could finally move/organize more than one layer at a time??)That I know of, there's no way to get around this.
Still, can't wait for the final CS3 to come out.

i hear you cinder...thanks anyway fellas.
i'm pretty anal retentive about naming my layers...i usually go through my PSD every hour or so to clean everything up. i even name adjustment layers from "hue/sautration" to "color tweak left arm" etc
