Anyone got a good alternative to Aftereffects? I cant render out on intel Mac, running out of RAM..
What about Apples final cut studio?

motion? no its a childs program
shake? they are cancelling it.
combustion maybe...

they're cancelling Shake? Since when? I was about to start training on it. It appears to be a great alternative to something like a high end Flame or Inferno.

Here's a fix for your AE woes that might work. Access your "secret" menu in your Preferences (hold down shift while accessing the prefs and it'll show up). Set it to clear the cache every 10 frames or so and it should work out.

rumors are shake is cancelled because apple is gonna launch another program.
thats the reason why shake is now 500 bucks
sneaky bastards they are...
for compositing shake is much better, animation after effects as the upper hand.
color grading combustion of shake...
- harlequino0
Yeah they are sneaky bastards. Like dope pushers they are. Give us a taste, make us neeeeeeed it, and then take it all away.

Shake isn't going away. They just decided to throw out the source code and build the next version from scratch. Maybe a name change too, who knows. Apple is definitely not getting out of the compositing/grading business.

Maybe they'll call it "Rattle?"
or "Roll?"
Sorry
:/

or hum?
shake is going away, like i said its going to integrated in larger packet.

The only alternative to AE is combustion. There is no other option.

(Jan 29 07, 08:46)EXPLAIN ME THIS PLEASE:
(SORRY rendering too)
is AE on intel, slower to render than on a mac g4? (I'm running 6.5 on the latest powerbook before they made the intel ones)On my machine is slow, but I have been doing projects (very intensive too) with no problems.
I find it amazing that on a 2 times faster machine, after effects will run slower..
is this the case?

meeklo
i have powerbook one generation prior to yours, and it runs 6.5 quite ok...i'm doing now quite intense 3D layer effects and it does the job.
i also have a dual macpro and this is machiine is fast as f*ck.
i'm working on location, so thats why o have to work on the powerbook...

Tank:
same here, I'm doing full motion graphics for a tv show, on a powerbook, and while it's slow, I been working like this for a while with no problems. My question is: is it slower on a newer intel mac?
Cause I was thinking to upgrade soon..
- tank0
again,
i have a macproits fast, really fast
don't know about the macbook or macbook pro...
