Since I haven't been able to sleep recently, I've been watching a lot of Miami Vice reruns on the Sleuth channel at 2am. And, man, I forgot how AWESOME that show was.
A few quick thoughts:
* How come Crockett and Tubbs never wear socks?
* Nobody ever bleeds when they get shot
* When someone gets shot, it is guaranteed they fly back a few feet no matter what the caliber of the gun.
* I wonder if the interior of the police headquarters is painted pink these days.
* Almost every episode, someone is cursing out Crockett for things he's done in the past and/or his lack of action in the present. That's a lot for one person to live with.
* There are a few things in life that put a smile to my face no matter what. One of those things is the intro to Miami Vice.
* In that vein, Jan Hammer is a god.
* The "A Michael Mann Production" animation at the end is GENIUS.
* Every few episodes they will do a montage/set up scene using current music. The other night is was U2's "Wire" (which was awesome and well done). But, nothing tops "In the Air Tonight" in the pilot. Current movies don't even do it as well as this...
(the shotgun part is chilling).I guess what I'm trying to say is Miami Vice is awesome. And, I am going to Netflix all the seasons.

The intro for those who want to rock out while at work...
(its a very pixelated, but you're over it.)

Spot on!
Thought the film sucked big time.
Should've hired on Philip Michael Thomas and Don Jonson for it.
At least then Jonson would've been old enough for Crockets 'over the hill', with history, ex-footballer charater.

i thought the film worked have worked much better if a) colin farrell was not in it or b) he had at least cut his hair so as to not try and poorly imitate don johnson.

I love this thread.
There was a MV marathon on TVLAND several months ago...I think I watched about 7 hours straight...every episode a winner...especially the one with Phil Collins....

Remeber seeing Frank Zappa in an episode too.
Plus most of the cast of Crime Story which was another Mann TV show I really liked.

I love watching an episode and seeing the actor playing a bad guy and being like "Hey, it's that guy!"
