I was wondering if anyone know how much it would be for a custom font to be created? What is the timeline for this?
A client of ours liked the hand drawn treatment to the font created for there menu and now they would like that as a font.
thanks in advance.

there was something on here yesterday about hand written fonts and someone posted a link to someone they had create a custom font.

Did you create the original 'hand-drawn treatment'? If so, you've got up to 216 characters to develop for a full character set, so multiply that by how long it took you to do the an averagely complicated letter in your set so far.
Unless you're a professional typographerasamist or insanely talented, you're just going to have to cost it along the lines of your normal design work (and maybe take into account your software costs, if you have to buy some glyph editor or whatnot).
imo, anyway.

Mail Steve Matteson at Ascender. ,or someone at AGFA monotype.

For a custom typeface the time-frame would be determined by the complexity of the font & amount of characters, but about 4-12 months would be normal for a not too complex typeface. Price also varies, but I think you're looking at at least 15-30K from a professional foundry, depending on complexity of project.

The font isn't complex at all, however, i appreciate the amount of work that goes into creating a font and have a much higher respect for what get puts into the development stage now.

Consider HandFont for an affordable, professional digitization. Keep in mind this rules out multiple rounds of changes. Email me if you have any questions.

Again, I am biased, but the results from Fontifier are not very good.
