Usually when I render video, browse a lot of fonts at once, or crunch many vectors.
Does it sound like a RAM problem? or processor? or maybe my SATA drive is iffy..
- TheBlueOne0
Depends...how much RAM do you have?
- adriandd0
1 gig (corsair 2x512)
Never happens just when I'm low on RAM, but could be when I'm accessing it (while rendering etc)
Bad stick?

Make sure you have the same pair of ram.
For example two 500 meg sticks
or two one gig sticks
or just one...
Sounds like a ram issue or maybe even a cooling issue. Are all your fans running?

sounds like your using a mac! it's what they do!

I have 2 of the same pair (corsair xms512) in slots 1 and 3 as suggested. But I got 'em from eBay a while ago so thats my first doubt. :)
Overheating, maybe.. but wouldn't the system display a warning or at least beep? Will check the fans again.

Try using only one of the memory chips at a time and do the same tasks. If you get them problem while one is in there and not the other it might be one of the memory chips.

Open task manager and see how much is used vs. how much available. If ram was bad it wouldn't work. Some tasks just take a lot of RAM and Processor resources. Hence the freeze. I was getting that a while ago. Went to 2gigs ram, 2x1gb, and it got a lot better.

So if task manager can read the amount of ram it should work perfectly?
I was planning to get another gig , will see if that helps. Thx!
