Fonts on the mac

I admit I have delayed my switch for far too long but I am now part of the mac cult again. I would probably consider trashing my windows machine out of the balcony if I could figure out what to do with my fonts.
I have the Adobe Fontfolio Collection and have managed my fonts for years using ATM. As far as I know I cannot use those fonts on the mac... I have downloaded Suitcase but I guess I will have to start a new set of font collection?
What do you guys do?
How do you manage your fonts? Where do you buy good fonts? What do you do when you have to open win files with win fonts only?

i'm using the latest suitcase with OSX 10.4.8 and it's all good for me.
don't use fontbook whatever you do!
if the fonts you have a TrueType (.TTF) they'll work on mac but if there the older format with the multiple pieces forget it.

I have heard only good things about Linotype Font Explorer

FontExplorer has basically completely fucked up type one of my macs, its ok to use, but DO NOT check the box that allows xplorer to manage system fonts, and do not request that it moves your fonts to it's own library.
Also, keep a copy of suitcase because just to keep things interesting, God has decided that some fonts will work only using suitcase and not in Xplorer, while just to keep you really guessing, some fonts will work in Illy but not Quark, now, mix those two issues into random mixes of each, and you are somewhere close to discovering the wonderful world of type.
Fucking sucks.

Thanks a lot guys, this is very helpful.
pascii, I installed lyno and it looks good, very intuitive. I think it is a keeper.
rask04, your message came after the install so I DID check the manage my system fonts box... but I did NOT let it move to its own library (it sounded a bit fishy).
aikey, yes I moved my TTF from my pc and they work fine. My fontfolio is very old with the old fonts (in pieces) so yes I am screwed there... good excuse to go shopping for some fresh fonts

Most windows fonts work on mac... just drop them into your fonts folder either manually or use font book to install them. I have yet to come across a windows font that won't work on my macs.
