since this year all my clients are calling me after i send them an email with attachments.
the question is: they can only view the (gif/jpg) attachments as images, not as a 'real attachment' with the paperclip icon that they are used to.
i didn't change anything in my apple mail prefs, so what's going wrong here...
anyone had this before & solved?

cant they drag em off?

madirish,
me fail english? unpossible! :)no, the problem is that the attachment ONLY shows up as an image in their email, WITHOUT the paperclip icon that allows them to save the attached files.
they all call me that its not normal.

oh, and they say they can not drag them off the email to the desktop or whatsoever.
a black circle shows up then.

after clicking attach file, select the box at the bottom of the choose file menu that says "Send Windows Friendly Attachments"
That should work, if not zip the file.

hmmmmm... is this a POP3 or IMAP mail server off-hand?
sounds like the mail server is acting up on a couple levels. also, do you have Edit -> Attachments -> "Always Send Windows Friendly Attachments" checked? that *may* be the cause...
i will keep thinking about it.

hmm.. i did not know this. thx, bjcave..

hmmm, and it's IMAP indeed.

and by the way, i always drag&drop files to apple mail. so i never came across that 'windowsfriendly' button... i feel like a mac noob today.
- madirish0
i thought you would say IMAP. it is indeed then, not encoding the attachments w/ their 2 parts to allow them to be saved locally. that setting will force it to regardless if you drag/drop or click the 'Attach' button.

i have a similar problem with gifs and jpgs in that windows users never see any files atttached. the only work around i have is to zip them and attach the zip file.

got that box and/or setting checked diggity?

(Jan 10 07, 06:18)testing now on a pc that's around here, and that box checked or not doesn't make a difference.
strangé.

i've tried drag/drop and the attachment dialog checking and unchecking the box. any other type of file like pdfs attach fine. and it only happens to people on windows. mac users using mail can see all the attachments regardless of filetype.

uh?
when i change from RTF to plain text structure in the preferences pc users do receive the attachment as they normally do.but RTF with attachment always worked before?!

my issue is that whenever i attach PDF files in apple mail, they appear in the body of an email like as if it was a .jpg/.gif file.
once it is sent, the PDF file is transformed INTO a .jpg file for recipients, regardles of if it is selected as a regular attachment or a windows friendly one.
It's annoying.
anyone know what to do?
