I'm getting one!
Thank christ for company discounts with BOTH Apple *and* Cingular! Gonna need it for sure.

so, you throw away your old iPod and replace it with iPhone?

"so, you throw away your old iPod and replace it with iPhone?
Rand
(Jan 9 07, 16:28"Or just do what I plan on doing...use my 30gb video for exercising and whatnot, and use the iPhone when I get it for phone/leaving the 30gb at home.
- Rand0
so you use the old one when you need the bigger playlist and use the phone as a combo phone/nano/camera?

absolutely. it's apple's entire strategy. like said before the education is good. yea, they are FABULOUS salespeople. Apple can sell you toilet paper to wipe your ass and it will look and sound attractive.
...the truth of the matter is yea they came out with a bunch of different ipod verisons then color. then video. now the phone so throw away all your old gear that's not really that old at all.
i don't believe in a better OS, like stated before it's how you use it.
what i do believe in is the hardware. Look at it this way...there are a TON of smartphones out on the market...look at cingular's new commercial for the blackjack for example, or verizons for the Q. Hell even the chocolate phone plays mp3s and that's not really expensive at all.
anyway - the point is this. My samsung i730 (yes while being a little more bulky than an iphone or the q or blackjack. and yes while having a shitty battery life...but i'm never far away from another battery or the wall) it cost me 200$ and it does more than the iphone. Mind you this smartphone is a few years old. YEARS OLD. That means Apple is rehashing old technology and charging people more for it.
that's simple truth of the matter.
I personally WOULD get an iphone but ONLY IF it was priced within reason. ... then of course it would depend on if I could still use Verizon with it.

haha haters.
just read the specs and about the innovative challenges they had to conquer..this phone certainly deserves some respect from a designers/engineers point of view.
and yes, ofcourse Apple also maximizes its marketing capabilities, so does Sony, so does Nokia etc.
But just because Apple seem to get far more press with their way of showing their new stuff does not mean their products are necessarily inferior.
i have to say, it is always very wise to be sceptical. always.

i guarantee this will be the first phone ever to overheat

think of all the people on their lunchbreaks, they can now bake an egg and bacon and finally have solid warm lunch right in front of them..

- morilla0
yeah, I wish they had more carriers. Seriously thinking of switching.
Don't know why so many haters. It's all about design and function, and this phone kicks the shit of anything that is out there right now. Just wish the $ was lower.

one more thing:
can it navigate? i know about the google maps integration, but does it have gps or can you hook it up?
- forcetwelve0
i havnt read all of this thread. how much is it going to co$t?
- Crouwel0
it's bizarre though, it is all over the news, here as well, it seems like every newspaper is reporting this new gadget. i don't see that happen with many other products at all, not in mainstream news anyway..

Cingular was a bad call. As much as i love my mac 'gadgets' i won't switch providers. Tmobile is the best cell provider I've had.
* kisses tmobile crackberry...

yeah, it was all the talk yesterday. I was at CES for a couple of hours for work. That phone and iTV was the only thing everyone was taling about.
