What is the best way to determine Pantone to CMYK colour conversions – using the "Tint file" book and using your eyes or selecting convert spot to process in indesign or simlar. Again I also need to convert pantones to rgb?
Any suggestions?
Thnks in advance.

using the Pantone book that tells you.

I haven't got one of them only a cmyk breakdown book that you have to go through with a pntone swatch and chose the nearest colour.

yeah I've done that before.
I usually just go with an illustrator conversion. Its the collours on the edges of the gamut that are tricky.

Cheers – Perhaps we'll invest in the Pantone book you mentioned.

do a search on google. there is a pdf file somewhere out there which has every pms colour as a small square. so if you run that through your printer, you will have an acurate guide as to what pantone will look like through your printer
