It's a weird place. Only tractors and bicycles allowed. Lovely cream teas though.
I say. What.

Yes I've been. No sharks. It's about 45 choppy minutes away from Jersey by boat. The harbour is at the bottom of a long hill. You have the choice of walking up or taking the tractor bus (a tractor pulling an empty trailer basically). At the top of the hill is a village. Something akin to the wicker man. You can walk around or like me hire a bike.
Of course I went back in the good ole days of feudalism.

You heard of the Barclay Brothers?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dav…That aerial view of Sark shows their 'island home', the island of Brecqhou. Bottom right of the main pic.
Talk about detached.

Actually, funny story. I know this French-American guy who's grandfather died on the shores of Normandy (ironic), fighting Nazis. He's now a chef, and went back to study French cuisine in the Normandy area. He owns this joint: http://www.lepommier.com/
I go there every so often with my sister and/or friends. The fish dishes and a few others are supposed to be some concoction of English and French style. "It's all in the roux", he says. Ha!
Must be similar there, saw so many French surnames on that show.

Yeah, my brother in law is French and a chef. They know how to use that room next to the room with the washing machines in it... oh yeah my wife says it's called the kitchen.
He never cooks for me though. But yup, the channel islands is quite gallic in flavour. All the roads are called things like Le petite Route Des Mielles or La Grande route de st Laurent.
Most of the locals seem a bit 'inbred' if you know what I mean though. And no, I ain't local.
