I checked some of the boards already, didn't find anything
I get the gray apple screen when i boot up, and my CD drive won't open at all.. tried using the keyboard, and tried the paperclip in the hole thing. Any other tricks to opening the drive so I could hopefully boot from the OS cd?

Make sure that your mouse is connected to your computer, via the keyboard or directly in one of the USB slots, then hold the mouse button down and start the Mac up. Keep the button held down until the Mac automatically opens the CD drawer before the start-up sequence. Hope this helps.

are you holding the "C" key through complete startup.. that tell's the computer to startup off system on the boot CD.
also, are you sure its a blessed startup disk? if its not retail and you made it yourself there's a good chance it wasn't burned correctly as a boot disk.
