Ive designed three belt buckles for a client and I thought he had a place lined up but he doesnt. Do any of you know a good manufacturer in the US?

i know of manufacturers in hong kong and china...if you need...mold charges for development for metal hardware can get very very pricey, make sure you spec up the piece as good with as much detail as possible as you dont want to re-make any molds.
if you need that info let me know.
its not in USA.

im looking around the office for the info and i cant actually find it now...
also as i have said above mold charges can get very expensive and most metal hardware manufacturers do not just make samples withoput having a guarantee with an order to make the samples as they have been burnt with many design vendors just looking to make samples and not looking for production.
its just a pre-caution.
make sure you also get in writing all the charges for all costs with FOB [freight on board] charges as well.
ill try to find the manufacturers addresses and contact info at home.

Thanks for the info! Ive been working on the details and pointing out everything from how much the type comes out to the overall size. Let me know if you come accross that info.

i've worked with these guys in SoCal.. they have a factory overseas.
(although site won't load for me atm? and ain't pretty when it does)
as epill said, mold fees are way up there for custom stuff, no matter who you work with.

make sure you use "cm" and "mm" for measurments, must show all views possible [front, back, sides, 3/4view and cut-thru]

also be warned; give yourself at least 6 months before you can expect bulk delivery.
... and tell your client to get you a pass for ASR in January so you can better line up his contacts for 2008 :)

The company is called charitysmith (nonprofit) and I made a big cowboy style buckle with flourishes for one. The other buckle is more simple with there name in metal lettering in the middle of the square with leather in the negative space. Hope that makes sense....that look great in illustrator, I just want them to turn out looking sick!

make sure you indicate in your spec that edges should "taper down" ...when working with metal or hardware development its always a must to remember the consumer and that metal can easily cut thru flesh or hurt someone if the edges are sharp or have corners, round all corners and edges should taper down.
also make sure that if you have any other elements on the face of the buckle to indicate for the maker to advise and also adjust the spec to make sure that the pieces are screwed into face from back.
if you have any questions email me.
Good Luck!!

Another idea would be to work with a local Silversmith.
