yet another display thread... im sorry in advance.
im gonna buy a display in jan to replace my crt.
the 20-inch Apple Cinema Display is going to be too expensive. that leaves the Dell UltraSharp 2007WFP 20.1" as the next best option.
http://accessories.euro.dell.com…first, anyone got any comments about that particular model?
secondly, is there a compelling reason why i should consider spending another 200 quid for the Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24" model?
http://accessories.euro.dell.com…fire away!

same shit, different shape

2007fpw. good. i have last year's model. this year's is better. they all have the same internals as apple displays.
2407fpw is bigger. if you do print work, you should possibly consider that one. if you have a small desk, you probably shouldn't.
Have you searched for 'Dell', 'Display', 'Monitor' or 'LCD' in the PVN? This topic has been covered quite a lot this year.

take a look at some formac monitors. cheaper than apple (tho maybe not as cheap as dell). but better than the pple displays IMO.
i got a raven 20.1 inch.

-------yes i searched for 'display' and found some useful comments. im aware that its been covered before - ive posted a similar topic to which u also replied.
this time, i wanted some particular feedback on the model i mentioned in this thread.
thanks for your help in this matter... stop... carry on.

Well, one thing's for sure, I've become no less an arsehole in the 2 months since you last asked about LCDs.

get the dell. they are same as apple and cheaper.
unless you are like Nairn and need a little reinforcement from peeps walking by who drop the "nice mac monitor, dude" as he sit's there w/ the pink polo collar popped....
nothin' but love for you Nairn... ;)

ive always liked you nairn... always x

I picked the Apple display because I have to look at it for 10 hours a day and it looks much better than the Dell
When you look for girlfriends you don't pick the ugly one either because you have to look at them for 8+ hours a day.
I like pretty things.

accessories.euro.dell...."That's the one I have at home and at work. They're amazing.
At work it's hooked into the DVI of a MBP and it's amazingly crisp.

I have the 2007, it is really great, but soon became not so great in terms of its size.
I also was tempted this morning to get the 2407, with the 30% promo that will last only for 2 days or so.

------nice one, thats what ill be doing - hooking up my macbook to it via the dvi.
i think thats apretty decent price for what yer getting.
and yes the mac looks brilliant but its 200 quid more expensive!

If you don't need the usb hub and composite/s-video in, go for E207WFP:

http://accessories.euro.dell.com…I would get the 24" one though if I were buying now :)

I've got the dell 2007fpw connected to my MacBook Pro at home and it's awesome. I also have it connected to my regular PC and Playstation2 as well - all I have to do is switch the video feed via the front panel button and it's gold!
Best monitor I've bought yet.
Valuable asset - would bid from again, A+++++++

--------------------------------...hahaha!
I would drop the extra cash and get the 24. Like someone else mentioned before, you'll be wanting more screen real estate sooner or later.

PooMoo - the very idea of owning anything Dell-branded makes me feel dead inside, but this monitor really is worth it.
I must admit, I prefer it to the Apple version, simply because it's got a black bevel, which makes a lot more sense to me for design work, over something I 'd constantly notice in the periphery of sight.
there were some issues (covered in now-archived threads) with the series (mine, namely) but they were minor and the new 2007 range has apparantly eradicated them.
if the 24" has a better resolution, definitely go for that one, if it's the same, consider 2 20"-ers :)

drop the xtra 200 if you can afford it. It's worth it. I've got a 24 and ive got a 19 (dads xmas present, had to make sure it worked right) hooked up off to the side. I thought the 24 was really nice, now I'm looking for another 19, because I'm a screen real estate whore =) or is that =( no, its =)
if you can swing it, get it, you won't be sad, if you don't, you might regret it.
