I think it would be one thing if Shepard Fairey was some no-talent toy who never put in any work. Not saying that makes a rip okay. Just saying he didn't just do high-profile spots to make a quick buck
Dude definitely put in the time and energy to be UP literally almost everywhere.
He also has tons of pieces (esp. his recent printmaking collages) that are def. unique very well-done.
Call me a fan-boy, I'm not trying to defend him, I could care less what anyone thinks of him, just sayin my piece. You can call him a biter or sell-out for the fuct drama, but he still puts in more and better work than most.

wow. interesting.
why do people think that ripping people off, especially on that level, will not come back full circle and be noticed... or do they just not care?

not to be an obey fanboy or anything, and the ripping is lame overall, but obey had better execution of the ideas. i had a few fuct tees, and a few obey tees in my time, and the obey tees were much better. thats just me. i mean it sucks they got ripped on that stuff, but all i hear from fuct nowadays is their whining about it. how about instead of that, keep innovating and stay ahead of the game. getting ripped in the fashion industry is a certainty if you have anything worth a damn.

Shep is known for rips

I am very confused on this/ I remember seeing the OBEY giant stickers plasterd all over boston in the late 80's or early 90's.

Fuct says:
"Responsible for introducing to the world the “Planet of The Apes” printed t-shirts back in 1993, to using Viet-Nam war & German WWII inspired graphics"
Translation:
"I was using someone else's ideas"

I agree with you, Spiff on the better execution, but you also have to figure that the Obey designs are more recent and technology has come a long way in 10-15 years.
but fuck it... I have an Obey shirt.

I know alot of folk who would like to have words with shep. I don't keep up with the drama, but it seems like he engulfs himself with it.
