Easiest way to pick up CSS, imo, is to View Source / Download examples of sites you'd like to mimic.
You could learn [mostly] everything you need to by just picking this one page apart..
http://www.positioniseverything.…Also handy..
http://css.maxdesign.com.au/floa…And, in no particular order ('cept the first two)

hmm... I always thought picking up css would be relativly easy... Am I wrong? Its only a stylesheet really isent it? like what you do in Quark express

the trick with css is not only getting it to work, but getting it to work everywhere.
there is a good bit more going on than "here's the formatting information for a heading."

I found the book "css mastery" by andy budd, useful. But a lot of it comes down to practice, and knowing when to use what method.

(Dec 11 06, 05:41)remember that yr css needs to work in safari, ie, ff etc all of which have slight differences in the way in which they understand the CSS as well as older versions of the browsers that dont understand the latest CSS attributes

Hey buddy, I was in a similar position to you a few weeks back, I would also recommend CSS positioning at Lynda.com.
Also go here:
http://blog.html.it/layoutgala/I found this really useful to build on when designing my own sites in CSS, its super basic but that makes is easy to understand.
Btw, its way more involved then stylesheets in Quark.

(Dec 11 06, 06:07)Hahaha. I love it when people post this site. The most complex and advanced CSS on the web – Good starting point!!
I would start with Styling Text, redefining tags and using Margins, etc.. the Psuedo links, positioing and the rest will come naturally.
I used http://www.sitepoint.com/books/c…
Good start point

Yes its relatively easy to pick up if you are already familiar with HTML, but don't expect to be a jedi overnight. I'm still learning things myself.
I would put in another recommendation for the book "CSS Mastery". I'm pretty much self taught on-the-job, but that book has been a good reference from time to time.

css is just like any code, just because you're writing it doesn't mean its being used properly. practice good box modeling and light code based on css1 for now and you will quickly learn between the tricks and the efficiency, cms programmers love good css coders
