What is the best way to produce Word and Powerpoint Templates from Indesign? I am working up a Word Letterhead, with Logo's originally produced in Illustrator.
Would I be best exporting as PNG? Any Tutorials anyone can recommend for Word and Powerpoint templates?

Why InDesign?
Surely Word and Powerpoint Templates are best made in Word and Powerpoint??!

(for pp only i don't know word)
1. create the background graphic at the set pp dimension in photoshop or illustrator.
2. save as a jpeg
3. bring into the pp slideshow and send it to the back of the layers and put your text over it.

set it up in the slide master innit

You people have no idea what you are doing.

PP has slide masters for this, and you can also set a proper background image (which admittedly is hidden under about 25 sub-context menus)...

yeah i didn't have time to figure that out when it did it this worked just as well imo.

hey moth did you find that info you asked me for during the weekend? nobody replies to me anymore (boo-hoo-hoo)

To be fair to _salisae_ the master/template tools in PP and word are shite. That's why designers tend to go for imported graphics.
But yes, if you can bare it, stick to comping together in the package with the exception of a BG graphic.
*remember to print tests from a PC if creating on a Mac, type moves about.

Yeah I had to create a word and excel template on a pc and save them in the templates folder respectively.
I did logo's as tiffs and the address bar as well and embeded them in the header and footer.
NB: Word never does anything you want it to it IS shite – the margins are off and the print area is iffy to say the least. persuade them to get a proper letterhead printed.

If a client asks me to do PP and Word templates I usually pass. Nothing but a pain in the arse.
By all means do a visual, but don't waste hours fookin about with that crap. Send it to an artworker.

just make the client get some letterheads printed and setup margins in a word template.
or make them print a pdf of the letterhead THEN print with margin template from word.
word templates are shite.

you can place an EPS of the logo and any typeset info in the header of the Word doc - then set the margins.
for powerpoint place exported graphics in master slides like stated above.

Thank you for all your help everyone. Confirmed what I thought really, just wanted to see if there was another way around it.
Any examples of good Powerpoint Templates out there for a bit of inspiration?
