I've created a:
"root.createEmptyMovieClip"
with AS where you can draw with the cursor - all works fine.Question can I make the dimension of it smaller?
so the area you can draw in is smaller than the area of the mc?I've tried changing the xy positiion and scale and even a mask. But, because there is no tangible mc - would anything work?

when i put in:
line._width = 200
(etc)after the first line of the code:
_root.createEmptyMovieClip
("line",1)It negats the action

_width and _height are read only attributes. to set height and width you have to use _xscale & _yscale
- aliceblue0
ok thanks
I'll try there!

jpeaI tried that as well - just scaled down the point size of the line
By default it starts at the left
corner (0)- I'm trying to start it to say 100 on the xy axislate for meeting - thanks!

how about using just _x & _y then?
myClip._x = myClip._y = 100
that'll put it at 100 and 100 instead of at 0, then scale whatever clip you attach to it with myClip.clipName._xscale or whatever

This kinda works - but now the cursor is moved away from the lines being drawn.
hmmmmmm?_root.createEmptyMovieClip
("line",1)
line._x = 100
line._y = 100
line._xscale = 50
line._yscale = 50_root.onMouseDown = function(){
line.moveTo(_xmouse,_ymouse);
line.lineStyle(2,0x666666,100);
this.onMouseMove = function(){
line.lineTo(_xmouse,_ymouse);
updateAfterEvent();
}
}
_root.onMouseUp = function(){
this.onMouseMove = null;
}
