I have an illustrator file with a large jpeg that needs to be sent to a few people as well as the printers via email. The smallest I can get the file is 134meg! I can email up to 100meg using a specialist transfer site, has anyone any suggestions?

Shouldve planned ahead

Send the jpg separate from the illustrator file.

I was given the image to use and had to use the template in illustrator so planning ahead wasnt relevant

i was going to suggest taking the jpeg out of illustrator and seeing if you can compress it down any further. then zip up IT and the Ill file seperately and send individually

save an eps...bring it to photoshop...cut it into sections...zip each section and then let the printer assemble it

no no NO save it as an EPS in illy, then distill it as a high quality pdf. it takes my 60 MB files down to like 700kb.
- doesnotexist0
oh, that's distill it with Adobe Distiller. comes with acrobat pro.

it's ridiculous what Illy does with embedded jpegs

do a save as. deselect "create pdf compatible file" option. that removes the default preview and should reduce file size to vector only elements. e-mail jpeg separately if needed.

no, really, "save as..." an EPS, open that with distiller and distill it using the HIGH PRINT/PRESS QUALITY settings.
it's a miracle worker and i couldnt believe it myself.
