He's got a point though. There's no work there. The place that was basically a Casino economy, which is dire in itself.

Uh uh...? Don't really think it's one side or another type of thing, although it ends up that way. More of a managerial process flaw.
But again, easier said than done.
Just my two cents.

The UN doesn't have the resources/ability to even think about fighting Global Corporatism. Blaming them for that corruption is misplaced I think. All they can hope to do is provide a judicious forum for nations to interface through and attempt to provide some legitimacy to peacekeeping efforts that most nations (ahem) fail to do.

govern better.

Now that sounds like a Democratic talking point there..
- mpfree0
incorrect.
you can't blame US companies that might be doing business with poor countries. blame the corrupt leaders that don't properly spend the money.
and don't start barking about Bushie. other presidents and countries do much the same.
like anything, it's accountability. UN has to do something about that type of shit.
want to know my idea, that's it. govern better.

I wonder where all the money is coming from to corrupt those countries....you know all the red ones there on the map. You know the ones that have all the cheap labor where the US is making all their shiotm and you know the ones that have the oil where we buy that too...yeah...corrupt. Exactly.
- mrdobolina0
so that is the UN's fault?
- mrdobolina0
I think it is easier done with an international body that can speak with a multi-lateral voice.
- TheBlueOne0
and it's quite obvious how useless and ineffectual the UN is, in general, around the globe.

Except for it's use in wingnut rightwing fear fantasies of "one world government", black helicopters and George Soros. So is it useless, or is it a threat? The talking points whiz by me so fast...I guess I should go back and re-read the Turner Diaries, eh?
