Just wondering...do any males like this film? I haven't heard much from them.
I finally got to see it tonight after owning it for so long and I think it's really growing on me. The acting is superb and the story is raw (except for the fact that it's a film and the actors and director came up with the lines beforehand).
Introspective people must explode after watching it.
I agree with PixelSurgeon's review, except it got a lower score than I would've liked:

before sunrise was like having myself there in the screen, talking on a trip. i loved it!
10 years later i saw before sunset and it was like me there on the screen... talking.
its a perfect potrait of this generation...!
and the joys of traveling...

I was 21 when I saw "Before Sunrise". It was the kind of movie you thought of "a sequel would kill it", but at the same time wanted a continuation.
Good timing from Linklater, the characters are a little matured, but still young and their futures are still open. 9 years later it wasn't spoiling the original story anymore and was actually a nice touch, almost like something Linklater owed our generation. The goodies: those oh-so-important dialogues nobody remembers, Paris and the Seine, non-disappointing ending.
The baddies: acting, Jaline. Hawke is visibly stoned, but kinda high, which might suggest other chemicals. It looks like a superstar made a few days break in his busy multimillion schedule to take part in a friends' project. As the movie goes on, fumes of weed reach Julie as well, which is cool, but distracting, as it was not in the script. I saw it two years ago, so don't remember exactly, but I think she made a reference to smoking at some time..
It's all ok though, we would forgive even more, because we treat this story personally, it's kind of like watching our friends. We're not here to judge, the film's a bonus and we can take it or leave it..

I did a before sunset experience with a girl from Finland in London. It wasn't quite the same as everything started closing in the evening and my efforts to convince her I had no ill intentions when booking a hotel room for us (it was fine in Chungking Express) weren't successful and we parted just before dawn. It was however the best shower I ever had. So many water jets and then some hot air to dry you off.

It really annoyed me, .... for some reason.
Maybe because you feel a bit identified with the characters.Good.and original.though.
but hated it, and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
about the end. I think they definitely fucked. And if they don't, what a couple of time wasters.

My lady loves it, it's her favourite film.
It annoys me slightly, but never the lless a good movie

i thought they were both so trite. not linklater's best work by a long shot.

For some reason, I really liked it. I'm sure I'll be bored to tears when I watch it again, but that's why I'll remember the first time more. I enjoyed the subtle moments more, and the way Delpy's acting has improved over Hawke's (in the film). It does seem a bit elitist with the 'intellectual' talk, but it's still realistic, imo.

I loved before sunrise - so much so that it subconsiciously inspired me to have a simliar experience. I met this guy and we went to Brighton on a beautiful summer day. all very spur of the moment and 'romantic' but in my head just one beautiful day to remember for when i'm an old lady. Sadly he hadn't seen the movie (even though i explained it on the train back) and turned into a bit of a stalker. i don't think i should see before sunset just in case.

i agree with raflski.
and i like the fact that the film is just capturing more of ordinary people having ordinary life and trying to have a little spark moments in their life.
it reminds me of the time when i visited my lady friend in paris and strolled around without any destinations.

ah.... funny thing. Today is my day off from shooting yet another low budget production a "Before Sunset" shot in French New Wave style... We should be done in a week so i'll post you some stills then.

Is there weed on location involved as well, Patryk?
- Jaline0
rafalski, they smoked in the little French café. Ethan did seem somewhat stoned. I've seen may of his films and I honestly think he's been like that in many of them. So who knows.

I like both movies, but I'm a sap and a film junky.

Had a Before Sunrise experience with a girl from Belgrade ten years ago. We actually saw the movie together. Ten yeras later, it was great to go the cinema by myself and see how things turned out for our counterparts.
I loved both films, but I'm too emotionally involved to look at them objectively.

(Nov 3 06, 08:52)Many people love and/or hate the film because they can relate with it.

rafalski, no, no weed, but lots of walking and talking and since it's artsy low budgeter we are coming up with lots of cool stuff on the go -- over all very pleasant experience despite lack of decent dudget.
