does anybody know if it is possible to forward mail from other email accounts into gmail? ive searched around, but the only thing you seem to be able to do is to import your gmail into outlook, thunderbird, etc...
ive heard about people who use gmail to filter out spam, but ive got no vlue how to do it. any help would be appreciated.

aye my friend, gmail will embrace all your email accounts.
simply go to settings/accounts and add the email account(s). as long as that email account supports forwarding then bad-a-bing your sorted.
the spam will sort itself.

Don't know if this helps but i have a (mt) account and i set up to forward to a gmail address through their account manager. i would assume this is possible with any host.

also don't forget that you can send email from gmail, but have it look like it's from your domain
i do this currently

Shouldn't the thread read...
gmail > other email
or
other email < gmail
?

I have the same situ matty. I have all my MT account mail go through my gmail and have it reply as if from my MT account. you need to access yur Web Control Panel and forward on the desired email account to your gmail address.
http://kb.mediatemple.net/articl…spam caused me to switch all my mail to gmail and it works a treat!

Thanks a ton. I was days away from decalring email bankruptcy on my long-time email account. Just finished setting the forwards in place.

in your gmail account settings, select which account you want as your default accountthen tick the box to always reply from default address.

ok, i got into the email forwarding, but now i have no idea what to do. when you click 'add new alias', it says 'alias', 'forward to' (which lists every email address on the server) and then another 'forward to'.
what do i input and where for it to work. ive tried a couple of different variations but none worked.
im a moron, please excuse me.

login to
yourdomain.com/user
and login with the username of the email account you wish to forward.then click on 'Email manager' on the side menu.
then 'Forward' from the top,
then enter your gmail address.mmmk

mattyd - sorry can't get into the details now since i'm at work but it looks like what de4k is saying is correct. also if you really can't figure it out don't be afraid to call. that's why we pay extra for mt in the first place.
now my turn...how do you make it so that when you reply from a gmail address it looks like it came from a @yourdomain.com address? I didn't know you could do this.
- de4k0
in your gmail account settings, select which account you want as your default email account
then tick the box at the bottom to always reply from default address. or from whatever address you were emailed.
bam.

damn, mt wont let me log into my user admin section. keeps giving me an error. damn it.
- flavorful0
Matty, to log in without error you have to put a "sponsored by" or "powered by" (mt) on your splash/main page of your site.
- mattyd040
hahaha, well played sir.
- nocomply0
thank you de4k!

What threw me was I always log into and modify from the Primary Account Center as the Admin.
To pull this off, you need to log in as the User (yourself) that was created as your mail alias. You'll know you are there when you see all the crappy squirrel mail and lame icons the "Users" see.
- de4k0
matty what's the email address you want forward?
then log in with 'something' as the username, goadaugeo.com as the domain and enter your password.
- mattyd040
ahhhhh, go it now, thanks de4k! i was using as my username. i didnt know it only had to be just 'matt'. there we go!
