Hi all,
I would like to create a 3d cube and then add texture to make it look like a sugar cube.
Just wondering what is the easiest 3d package available on the mac and also if there are any existing textures out there that I could use?
Thanks

roughitup - how complex do you need your cube to be? If it's one solitary cube, you might be able to mock it in Photoshop? Take a few hi-res macro photos and play with them?
I'm just saying, because to achieve high quality results from a 3d program will proably require quite more knowledge than you'd suspect?

Just pretend that last sentence made sense, ok? Cool.

easiest 3d package: Adobe Illustrator.
Get a picture of some sugar.
Draw a square in Illustrator
Go to Effects>3D
Bevel & Extrude (or whatever it is)
Play around with it to get the right look
Map the sugar picture to the surfaces that can be seen.
thats that.Do you need the actual 3D file type? With points and nurbs and all that? If so try:
Google SketchUp, free and relatively easy
Animation Master, cheap and from what I hear its easy
FormZ, not cheap, easier of the full featured suites
Maya Personal Learning Edition, free, hard as hell to use, puts watermarks in the background
