Good Day Sirs,
I'm exporting AfterEffects mov's as 720X480 DV/NTSC square pixels - Then my partner is taking the files and adding them to a Final Cut timeline. I have a feeling there is some miscommunication between us, because there is some slight stretching in the final output to DVD, and it seems like some of the files I give him are a bit pixelated. Long question short: What should we output AfterEffects as for Final Cut, then what should we output from Final Cut for DVD?Thanks for any help, this is driving me mad!

make sure Best quality is set, make sure field rendering is turned on and all of the check boxes are set for motion blur. also, make sure your partner's movie is in square pixels. if not you might want to changer you movie dimensions to 720x486

it's in the FCP sequence settings, he needs to change the pixel ratio from .9 to square.
Also make sure frame rates are the same.

If you are working with squae pxls, and want to go to ntsc, then you should be working in 720 x 540. When you export the clips, yuo need to convert this to .9 pxl size, to do this you will export your 720x540 as NTSC D1 (720 x 486). Once this is done, you have your true NTSC clip

its them square pixels alright. Use rectangular pixels if this is for broadcast, me thinks. squares for computer monitors.

Skelly,
You think rectangular pixels for DVD? I'm really not sure what the difference is.
- cwise0
DVDs use a .9 pixel (non-square).
- cwise0
Computer monitors use square and broadcast monitors (TVs) use .9.
