Is this the web-based email, Squirrel Mail?
I get errors every day:
"connection dropped by i-map server" and it's pissing me off.
- skelly0
squirrel mail is just the program used for your domain email. maybe that's what's giving you problems. you can use another one.
i have mine forwarded to gmail.

(Oct 4 06, 11:13)Not to be an idiot, but never knew that. How do I get that set up, forwarded to a better web-based email?
I use Entourage at home, but use webmail like mad at work...and it's killing me with the Squirrel.
- skelly0
yeah, i hate squirrel.
i kinda forget where, but you go to the email part of your control panel at media temple, and have it forwarded to a gmail account.
then from gmail, you can make it look like your email comes from different places (so if you respond, it appears to come from your domain email not from gmail).

squirrelmail sucks. It can only hold about 30-50mb without crapping out on you. When they switch over in a few weeks they are going to be using a new webmail system I think.
Use gmail as pop3 and don't leave messages on your server. That's the easiest way.

depending on your plan you can also access over IMAP or POP in any mail client.

skelley and liquid, thanks for the tip...will get in there and modify ASAP!

me too.
hate squirrel, forward to gmail, no probs.
should be super easy to set up from what i remember.
mail you send from gmail can still look llike it comes from your domain name email and people will be replying to your domain named email account as well.
hope that made sense.

(Oct 4 06, 11:59)That just answered my next question...didn't want to send emails out using gmail, but rather my own domain, thx!

you could always switch to godaddy, similar packages but half the price

godaddy, what a silly name.

Cut Go-daddy out of my life a long time ago.

how do i set up this gmail thing?
- skelly0
just be careful, if you're emailng someone and not getting a response, try sending an email from your actual gmail account (not faking like it's from your domain).
it's rare, but a few times my email went straight to someone's junk folder and sending from the real gmail address went through correctly.

doesn't get any easier. no set up just enter name and password.
been using it ofr years. no problems.
