Ah yes - you have to dig a bit deeper for the indie/rock kinda stuff. Few decent places around town still though - the indy music scene there at the moment is 100x better than it was when I lived there...

jevad-
when was the lst time you were in HK??
- jevad0
Last year - why?
- e-pill0
because Hk seems to be so fresh in your mind living so many miles away for me at least my memory would be slightly shot to remember flavours of food or places to see music...its just many places there here anywhere seem to come and go so quickly that you are alwasy so spot on with the reconmendations that i wonder whne the last time was because of this.
i am sure everyone who has received the advice has pleasured it greatly.

Hong Kong is in my blood...it's home. I lived there for 18 years from birth and my folks still live there so I go back often.
I miss it so much that sometimes when I am watching TV and a show or ad for HK come son TV that I sit there and weep uncontrollably for several minutes...

hey thanks for the heads up.
didn't realise their rules/laws had become so strict!
not sure where staying - am not organising that side of things. boondoggling trip in a way.
lived there as a kid tho - next to the sha-tin race course. going to be strange seeing it now.
- jevad0
wow
yeah - ShaTin is like...well it's like a mini-country now!
The rules really aren't that strict or enforced - maybe in Singapore...but HK is still HK and people still spit on the street and jaywalk willy-nilly.
Not sure what your bar scene is - but Lan Kwai (Fong) and Wan Chai are good for a laugh!
THis guy's blog can be a funny read:

hey people- thanks again for the hong kong info. got back a few days ago - loved it!!
the scale of everything was mind boggling, and the juxtoposition of old culture with slick cars and what not on the streets amazes.
didn't get a chance to see much else but the city as only had 2-3 days of 'tourist' time.
checked out alot of the shopping places you mentioned - managed to get into that consumer way easy.
a particular incredible moment was this bladerunner like restaurant/bar high up in a skyscraper looking out onto the harbour - lasers and lights beaming out all over the place.
anyway - was a great trip and most likely heading over next year to work.
thanks heaps!
