Hi there, i'm new here.
I've been waiting for Apple to update the MBP for a while now. I'm going traveling in just over a month and I need a laptop, and i'd rather not buy the current gen one that will be obsolete in less than a month... grrr...

Its all just guess work.
The thing is whenever you buy a laptop, especially an apple, no matter what happens its going to be improved upon at some point within the next 6 months, so one just buy one now and stop whining.
And saying in one month your macbook would be obsolete is rediculous. Theyre powerful machines that with enough ram will run all software and the new os x for the next 2 years

Very true!

what a great company.

Ok, so obsolete was a bit strong, but it's frustrating knowing that a revised machine is coming out soon, and that hopefully it won't overheat or explode :-)
Guess I'm running out of time waiting for them and will probably buy a current gen one soon anyways, but I rest in the fact that it'll be a helluva lot quicker than my G4 400!

90+ days and still no problems to report with my 15" mbp other than it's the fastest thing i've worked on in ages.

which one you get kona? i will be ordering one soon and think i will just do all the memeory and drive tuning myself and not order it. well, the ram upgrade for sure i will do mysefl.

madirish-
macbook pro 15" 2.16Ghz intel core duo
2GB ram
120GB hard drive
non-glossy display
superdrivethe mbp is hooked up to a 20" dell widescreen using dells div and it is amazingly crisp.
it's sitting up on an icurve so only once has it ever gotten hot enough for the fan to kick on.
i love this machine.
the 17" was an option but on a plane i thought it would be a little too big.

I just got a max'd out 17".
It is the haute.

i actually had the mbp ordered with the wireless keyboard and mouse but those uh.... somehow got switched with what i was using at home for my ibook. dont know how that happened.
:)

cool, mang. i feel the same exact way about the 17". i do so much traveling that it is just stupid to get it. plus i use a 20 incher as well in my office.
i was thinking of just getting the 2.0 but maybe the 2.16 is worth it?

nice digitalswarm!
when i got hired here the c ompany ordered two mbps with the specs we wanted. the other guy who got one and i mess with each other all the time. i kinda started it. i took his remote that came with his mbp and switched his with mine.
then, i'd wait until he was listening to itunes and randomly turn it up and down on him. stop it. switch songs. he thought he got a huge piece of shit mbp and complained all the time about it.
after a week i told him it was me. i was laughing my ass off. he was so mad but he got me back. haha. its cool.

i was thinking about getting the 2.0 for home and built it with the ram and everything. i think it will still be blazing fast as long as you get 2gb of ram. it will save you some $ too.
you'll be very happy with it for sure.
- madirish0
awesome duder. i think it is the 2.0 then.
damn i need a new 'puter....
- madirish0
one more thing- did you get the 7200 drive? makes a huge diff on the G4's so i was thinking fdoing that as well.
- digitalswarm0
Yeah, the remotes are a nice touch. And the built in camera for my porn site.

(Oct 5 06, 09:56)just checked and it looks like i did. so scratch the previous spec. i only have the 100gb drive not the 120. i mis-typed that.
the 7400 speed is really nice.
