hello - anyone be able to tell me why, when I export a PDF from my ID file, which includes drop shadows round a few elements, those elemnts end up being surrounded by a wee light grey box as well?
useful advice will be repayed with wine gums.

were your drop shadows created in indesign?

Did you specify to use high res transparency? I have had this happen on drop shadows in Indd as well, and that is the trick.
When exporting, go to the Advanced section, and at the bottom, you can select lo, mid and high. Give it a try and let me know if this helps.

do you have any styles defined like this?
have you done a high quality preview in indesign to see?

It's to do with the version of Acrobat you save it as. Early versions (4.0 – 5.0) are more compatible with a higher majority of users but include fewer 'features' when you create your PDF.
Transparancies & drops shadows in particular throw up the most problems.
Try saving as 6.0 (or 7.0 if you've got that version)... should help.

cheers guys, I'll give these all a bash - not used the app much so all advice well appreciated.
I shoved the shadows on in In Design, aye, Honest - what I'm doing with them it would be difficult just to set up the shadows in photoshop first...

hmm, when I'm exporting it won't let me do the high res transparency thing, the drop down is greyed out...

never use drop shadow in InD..
it will make you PDF ten times bigger and slow everything down
