Hey Ya'all...
I've got a client that put me on retainer for 60 hours a month at $50 an hour... they only used 24 hours the first month and 32 the second. Now they want me to work off the hours this month and renegotiate for the following month.I've got some ideas on what to offer them, but wanted to see what other people and companies are workign out with their clients.
It's everything from general design (logo's, fliers, etc.), web work, mobile web application development, etc.
Thanks!
Steve

i'm not sure i understand your quesiton. Are you asking what your retainer should be?
I guess average the time they use, them bill them for overages each month.

No, I'm not asking what I shoudl do as much as I'm asking what others do.What are some of the deals that people give their clients and what are the nuances built in...
• Do hours carry over month to month
• Is there a discount for X hours worked each monthThose kinda things.

it's called 'retainer fee', not cingular rollover minutes.

personally, I pad the initial design cost to cover a few hours a month for a year to get a feel for what is average. If it becomes quite extensive i invoice them. I average out the year and call that the money maintainence fee, hours don't carry over. But if they pay for 10 use 5 one month, then the next use 15 i don't bother. But i make sure they realize that also. I figure it's customer service, your not screwing them and they keep coming back and referring clients. put keep track of all hours worked. This is essential
