Does anyone use this?
I don't do web. I do print, but I want to attempt to set up a blog that's a bit nicer than what Blogger can offer.
I've downloaded the MT files, but I have no idea what to do with them, besides uploading them to my FTP site. Then what? Will a template program show up? Do I need to design the blog in another program and import? HELP!

i just got done setting up MT for a blog we will be using at work. i did not have a choice as to the platform, but i found it to be very easy to use and the templates are very easy to customize.

But how? I'm about to upload the MT downloaded files to my FTP site. Then what? Couldn't find any helpful "getting started" info.

MT is cool with a good rep, but I prefer Expression Engine or Textpattern

I have no idea what language you people are speaking.
Maybe MT isn't for me? I know zip about web stuff. Should I stick to Blogger or do you think I can handle MT?
Any other options to Blogger?

this book is for you:

also, the fact that you don't understand what the others are saying means that you've a bit to learn - so learn it. you can't expect to suddenly adopt a new technology without any effort on your behalf surely?!?
So good luck!

just download WordPress, its a lot friendly to use:
http://wordpress.org/download/
takes 30 seconds to install, litteraly.
Set up your template or download from 100000000's out there and you are set to go.

wordpress takes a little know how to set up. You still have to setup a mysql db.. and you still have to know how to change the file permissions on different templates etc....
wordpress does have the easiest install though. When you install they give you a URL to type in first to install. Then it asks you certain questions. At that point you cna probably come bakc here and ask for more help on what to do.

wordpress is a little easier than moveable type as far as setting up, if i remember correctly.
also, you usually have to change some information in the php files before you upload them, look for some info on that.
