i am about to buy a macbook pro - have read lots in various places about overheat issues and understand that a computer that fast is going to run a little hot - tested one myself a bit, and am mostly comfortable making the compromise - i am wondering tho, before i drop the cash, if anyone has heard rumors of a more publicly stated revision addressing this problem down the road, and/or if when the mbps start possibly using the new intel chip, there might be a quiet fix to the problem

    thx

never had it overheat yet. the fan only comes on when it gets REALLY hot.

what do people expect. it's a smoking fast processor jammed into a 1 inch thick shell. you can't put it on your lap but i used to work on a dell notebook and that fuckin thing got seriously hot too.

i'm lucky though. i'm on the north side of the building next to some giant windows so it kinda gets hot in here, i have a nice desktop fan on me and the puter and it keeps us both really cool.

laptops getting hot is nothing new, my ibook didn't run any cooler than the mb. i think the thing with the mb's was the plastic over the vent erroneously left on at the factory. non issue.
