I feel like an ass to even ask this question, but here goes. How do I setup a gradient over, say an image, that goes from white to nothing. I cant seem to figure out the logistics.

how do you mean white to nothing? Is it white to transparent?

Transparent, correct. Nothing was a poor word choice.

at a long shot could you have your object as a gradient combinded with a transparency setting? I don't have illustrator open yet but try that while I boot it up.

Cant seem to find the correct transparency setting.

do a black to white gradient. then, in the Transparency window, change the blending mode from Normal to Screen.
- skelly0
also, you can only do it in RGB mode

if you're doing this for a print job, afaik, you should make gradients in photoshop. gradients in illy doesn't come out right in color seperation.
