I've been asked a question I surely don't know the answer to, was hoping someone around here could help.
I've been building the front end of a web site and now we're talking about scaling the site out so that the content comes from multiple servers.
Is there any logical way I can do this given my style sheets have quite a few links to background and heading imagery embedded in them?
Is there a logical way to scale the site? I'm hoping I won't have to pull the imagery out of the style sheets so that the reference can be dynamic. Any direction oat all would be helpful.
Thanks.

use a DNS server that can dynamically resolve IPs to multiple web servers.
that way, you will not have to give it a thought on the front end.

there are many, many ways to accomplish this. it truley depends on what you are looking to migrate the static site to, technology-wise. the DNS suggestion is very good for changing everything once you are at that point, but useless until then.
Q's for you;
- are you going to a CMS to manage this new data model?- what dynamic scripting language are you migrating to?
- is the current site style sheet displayed? (less important)
- what is the severity of the mutiple data sources priority? ie- are some of these under new SSL protocol or other unique conditions (relative to the other data sources)?
