Best with roasted beef.I know for sure that over 50% of the bottles produced goes to UK/US

Yep - totally sure! I think its the mixture! never seen that before anyhow but it tastes gorgeous. Not dry, not sweet, just a nice nice red. Prices dont mean jack! We have been trhough plenty of red - cheap and expensive and that was a mind blower - always hunt them out in our local now. They also do a couple of whites but i dont rate them. try it and see!

I'm not a big fan or reds but I had a bottle of Chateau Neuf du Pape -retails at about £15 although Sainsabury have it with 7 quid off at the mo. (Original not own brand version)

Châteauneuf-du-Pape is hands down the best wine ever.
But back to the Rioja, nah haven't heard of that year.
Sounds pretty basic though. Just go to local store and ask for suggestion of other Rioja's.

My favorite grape right now is the Malbec. Believe me, go get a bottle. Argentina does it up right.
Also any thing 100% Grenache .
and Tempranillo obviously if you like Rioja.
If you are spending less than $20 for a bottle, I wouldn't worry about the label, concetrate on the grape, then just find one that you like.

and eff Robert Mondavi,
eff any United States* wine.
and eff Robert Parker.Okay I take the Robert Parker one back, mad respect. but only use him as a very loose guideline.
*exception for some Oregon pinot noirs

Oh, and Karlo, you should rent this DVD sometime.
Was so happy when it came out, describes the wine industry beautifully.
