here goes and please bear with me...
I have done a dreamweaver template for case studies on this particular job...
there are four titles in the nav
case study 1

3
4you get the idea...
If the client wants to add number 5 - how do I do it so that it updates all the other pages??
Obviously if I were doing it myself in dreamweaver no problem - however, the problem Im having is that YOU CANT or more to the point I CANT edit 'the template' in contribute
Does that make sense??

You can not use Contribute to add new pages and manage internal links like that.
Trust me, I've been there, tried it, and given up.

it will publish new pages, but won't manage the links. you have to set up the links in your template.

You could try and hack it with various "Editable Optional/Repeat Regions". Might get really confusing though.
I would just build them a little php cms for that bit.
Contribute is just for quick edits really.
