is it? are we moving into a new crazy boom? I've been doing some web2.0ish technology research and have found about a gabazillion new start ups just in the boston area.
Is this common everywhere?

I don't think so. Some of these startups have real business plans.

I hope this is real because it's kind of exciting. I'm trying to decide whether to jump off the cliff and go work for one.

There's a metric ton of these places in the SF bay area.
I wonder what will be the next Y2K. The only uncontrollable, glitch laden loose cannon I can think of is the current US government.
Ba Zing!

web 2.0 existed before 1999... people just 'didn't get it yet'...
... how many more myspace-type things does the world really need? eharmony... blah blah blah...
... although I'm sure they're handling LOTS OF PORN... can't forget about porn and how the industry pretty much leads the way in internet technology...

"the new 1999?"
no.

its looking like the israeli govt. is the new y2k.
I just think it will be interesting to see how this new round has evolved. Did we really learn anything from the craziness of 1999 or is this basically the way interactive will evolve...crazy booms followed by deep crashes.
