I'm creating a dvd for the uk so I should use Pal right?
But then what about widescreen etc?
Like, the client will probably put it on different displays etc - so do I need to do a comp for each type/size or is there one that kind of works ok at different screen sizes!?Do you catch my drift?
and what about Square pixels? I thought all pixels were square?argh!!!
aNy help?

just make it pal 4/3,
first open up a new comp and choose D1/DV PAL 5(1,07)pixels on a tv are not square actally.
if you make it widescreen, your enitre compsiotn has to made in a squeeze out version, because widescreen tv's actually squeeze you image on the tv itself, for better quality.

remember to shrink from 768x576 for any square based pixel work (ie from photoshop)

cool.
liek every time I get a dvd from amazon in my tele it squishes it (but keeps the ratio)?
so, if it's 4/3 and someone plays it on a widescreen what happens?
gets squished the other way?what shape are these tv pixels?

since the pixel ratio on a pal screen is 1.07 the size is 720x576. when you translate that into a square pixel ratio it becomes 768x756.

I work in broadcast design,
I have no idea about the technicalities, everything i make (for the UK) is 16;9 -widescreen - and i always use square pixels at 1024 by 576...
I've never had any problems in terms of squashing wtc...
