My double espresso, blueberry muffin, and morning newspaper costs me $5.45. Am I being a cheap fuck for not tipping an extra dollar?
- Rand0
in this case I would tip 2 or 3 dollars because it costs so little to act like a big shot

Yes.

Is the waitress/server good looking?
- kingjulien0
Well if she's hot aren't you supposed to pay for the whole thing with quarters?
- SERF0
At least tip the change dood! Mininum wage is like $5.00.
- Rand0
KJ, post that gun-to-head pic in nt mugs thread
- GreedoLives0
Did she actually serve you or was this a starbucks style DIY place?
- CALLES0
did you sat at a table or was it to go?
- dopepope0
They bringing it to you? Or is there a tip jar at the counter?
- flavorful0
Plus, most people in the service industry don't make minimum wage and that is legal because business' expect them to garner tips.
I'd tip 1.55 in that case probably, change plus a buck.

Yes, if it's a tip jar? Fuck that, change it is and happy change.
If someone is serving you, go the extra step - because they are.

I'm not trying to be like that guy from Reservoir Dogs, but all it takes to fulfill my order is reaching into the glass container for the muffin and 30 seconds of grinding beans. Then again, at a bar, I tip for less strenuous activites. I'm not sure why this is such a hang-up for me.

a double espresso requires a little bit of preparation, so yes.
when i just get a cup of coffee to go, where all they have to do is hand me a cup, fuck 'em.
- flavorful0
Eh, I hate change in my pocket.
Sometimes when I get stuff at like a convinent store and drop 90 cents in the the take a penny leave a penny because I don't find it convinvent to carry around.

is it a cafe around the corner that you always go to... or is it one that they will never see you again... theres a lot of factors to be taken under consideration
- kingjulien0
I'm talking tip jar at the counter. If they have to walk over to me, I go the extra mile and tip 20% because I'm paranoid somebody's going to make disparaging comments about my ethnicity, and then I'll have to cut em.

i was at a starbucks last year in san dimas.. then there was a kid standing by the door with a hood on.. he ran to the counter grabbed the tip jar and ran out to car awaiting his getaway!
hahaha i guess he needed the 5 bucks bad
- flavorful0
So you're tipping so people don't make comments about you behind you're back...
I think you may have more issues here than tipping my friend.
- kingjulien0
Are the tip jars divided evenly amongst the staff or does the money you leave go to the person who helped you?
- grunttt0
jars are divided.
