anyone use the deconcept SWFObject method to include flash content? http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobj…
i don't want to use the ExpressInstall method, as my movies are pretty small, but can't get he default flash detection to work.
any ideas?

SWFObject seems too complicated to me and didn't work right out the box for me. I stayed with a simple JS function I wrote long time ago.

i though it was supert simple, what problems you having?

so far it works really well; easy to set up and it validates -
just the ExpressInstall method requires a flash movie with an "Install" button, which is confusing to some users, and takes up space... the flash content on my page is only a small navbar.

undoundo, the source mentions a default detection, as opposed to the Express Install ... I can't figure out how to implement the default detection.

There's just too much (source) code in it for such a simple task to my liking. The use is quite simple, but could be simpler - I don't like having to preset a container for flash and then script it separately - I just want to embed.

it works really well with standards-based interface coding.

(Jun 22 06, 03:05)I think they mean the Macromedia default detection?
i.e if the movie is higher then the player the MM default pops up. I hvaent used the ExpressInstall from deconcept

I'm using the method described by macrobe (a simple funciont which call an external JS in which are the embed tags) and i've no problems.
Anyway, i used it just once.

yeah, instead of the ExpressInstall (which is nice, but requires space to display the dialog) I used a basic js/vbs flash player detection before entering the site.
...so i still keep the standards compliant SWFObject method of displaying the flash objects.
